Sorein inverter overloadsUpdated 19 days ago
The inverter in a Sorein Power Station has a rating for continuous output, and peak output. Output above the continuous rating will eventually cause the inverter to overload. The length of time that the inverter can sustain a load shortens as output rises above the "continuous" rating.
| Sorein G1 inverter | Sorein G2 inverter | |
|---|---|---|
| Continuous power output | 2200 Watts | 3300 Watts |
| 120 second output | 2400 Watts | 3850 Watts |
| 5 second output | 4200 Watts | 6500 Watts |
If the Sorein Power Station overloads at startup or while supplying power, it's because there's too much demand from devices or appliances connected to the power station's inverter. See this article for assistance.
You can see the total output, in Watts, on the front panel of the Sorein Power Station, at any time.
To avoid an overload:
- Avoid running other electrical appliances at the same time as a high-demand appliance, such as an air conditioner, microwave oven, electric water heater, water pump, heater, toaster, hair dryer, etc.
- Make sure appliances that have a dual propane/electric mode are in the "propane" mode, such as:
- RV water heater
- RV refrigerator
- Turn off the RV's built-in inverter (if equipped) since it won't be needed.
- Disconnect items that are plugged into the AC power outlets (like laptop computers). Small items that plug into USB outlets can remain connected.
- Keep in mind that when you plug your RV into the power station, you're energizing the RV's entire electrical system including the built-in power converter ("battery charger"). The power converter will go on immediately, which adds a load of anywhere from 50 to 900 watts (depending on the converter that is installed, the type of batteries, and their level of charge).
You can turn off the power converter to reduce the overall load on the power station. Usually this is possible by flipping the circuit breaker for the power converter. If you do this, be aware that the house batteries will receive no charge until the circuit breaker is reset. Be sure to reset the breaker before you plug into shore power. - Install a "soft start" device in your air conditioner. The Sorein Power Station has the capability to start most RV air conditioners, but note that it is managing all loads in your RV, so an overload is still possible. A dedicated soft start installed in the air conditioner is the best solution. Check out the Micro-Air EasyStart here.
