EMS & power station "open ground" errorUpdated 12 days ago
When discharging power from a power station
The Progressive EMS (and any circuit tester) will show an "open ground" when connected to a power station, or an inverter generator like the Honda eu2200i.
This is normal with any power station or generator, and it does not indicate a malfunction.
However, because of this indication, an Electrical Management System (EMS) will shut off the power to your RV when it detects an open ground.
With a portable power station, the solution is to remove or bypass the EMS. You don't need an EMS between the Sorein Power Station and your RV, since the power station has many internal protections to ensure reliable and safe power output.
Do not use a Ground-Neutral Bonding plug in a power station to work around this problem.
If you have a built-in Progressive EMS, Progressive offers a bypass switch that can be installed permanently in your RV.
When Charging Your Power Station
You can, optionally, use an EMS on a power source (outlet) when charging your power station, to protect against possible issues with the incoming (input) power.
