Can I connect the kit to a portable power station?Updated 25 days ago
In most cases, yes, you can connect the panels to a portable power station, such as those made by Jackery, Goal Zero, Anker, Bluetti, EcoFlow, Sorein, etc. Check the specs provided by the manufacturer, as we cannot guarantee compatibility with any particular brand or model.
Here's what to check:
- The owner's manual for your portable power station should specify what type of connector it accepts from a solar panel. Commonly this will be an XT60 connector. The AIR GEAR solar panels use Anderson SB50 connectors. You can find XT60 to Anderson SB50 adapters on Amazon.
NOTE: If you purchased the AIR GEAR Portable Solar Kit after May 1, 2025, the kit came with an Anderson-to-XT60 female adapter, so you may not need to buy one. - The owner's manual will also state what range of voltage the solar panel connection can accept, and the maximum acceptable wattage. The AIR GEAR panels will output up to 22 volts without the charge controller connected ("unregulated"), and up to 200 watts, so the portable power station must have an internal charge controller that is capable of handling that.
Typically portable power stations with built-in solar charge ports will have internal charge controllers. If that's the case with your portable power station, then the black charge controller supplied with the AIR GEAR kit should not be used. Connect the panels directly in this case.
Don't try to combine the AIR GEAR panels with other brands of solar panels. All of the solar panels must have matching output specifications, preferably the same brand.
If you want to charge small battery packs that use a USB connector, we suggest you connect the Portable Solar Kit to the Airstream as usual, and plug the battery pack into any USB outlet inside the Airstream.
Please consult with the manufacturer of your battery pack or other device, and confirm its charging requirements, before connecting the AIR GEAR Portable Solar Kit. If you plan to use the charge controller ("regulated panels") you may need to alter the output of charge controller. In that case, you should review our Help Center article entitled "Using the ETA Solar app".
