What's the best way to connect the RV and solar panels?Updated 2 hours ago

If you've got portable solar panels and a Sorein Power Station, you have the most flexible arrangement possible. Here's what we recommend:

1. Connect the RV's shore power cord to the 30-amp outlet on the Sorein Power Station. If you have a 50-amp power cord, you'll need a 50 amp-to-30 amp adapter.

2. Connect the portable solar panels to the Sorein Power Station using an XT60 adapter. (An XT60 adapter is included with  AIR GEAR Portable Solar Kits sold since May 2025, or you can buy one here.) This will add power back to the Sorein whenever the sun is shining.

3. Turn the power station on, and the AC outlets on the back, for as long as you need it. This might be for 10 minutes while you microwave something, make coffee, or use a blow dryer.

If you're using the Sorein to top up your RV's onboard batteries ("house batteries"), usually a couple of hours each day is the most you'll need. An amp-hour meter is very helpful to know when the onboard batteries are fully charged.

4. Turn off the Sorein when you're not using it. Be sure it's fully off (see this article for details), not just in standby mode. The power station consumes power anytime it is turned on, even if nothing is plugged into it.

With these practices, you can have many days of boondocking without any concern for running out of power, and without any generator noise.
