The cylinder in the lock is sticking or stiffUpdated a day ago
This is sometimes the case with a brand new Compartment Lock. Here's how to fix this:
- Put some lubricant (such as Boeshield T-9, silicone spray, or graphite) on the key or directly into the lock.
- Insert and remove the key 10-15 times to work in the lubricant.
- As the lubrication spreads through the lock, try to turn the key without forcing it.
With a couple of minutes, the key should begin to insert more easily and turn more easily.
You'll find Boeshield T-9, silicone spray, or graphite at most hardware stores or Wal-Mart.
