Key is hard to turn in lock, or won't turnUpdated 20 days ago

Try these troubleshooting tips:

Is the lock
difficult to turn with the provided key?
  • Put some lubricant (such as Boeshield T-9, silicone spray, or graphite) on the key or directly into the lock. Then insert and remove the key 10-15 times. As the lubrication spreads through the lock, try to turn the key without forcing it. With a couple of minutes, the key should begin to insert more easily and turn more easily.
Does the lock not turn at all or is “stuck” when you insert the key?
  • Follow the instructions above to lubricate the lock. Wiggle the key in and out slightly as you try to turn it.
  • Make sure that then you close the latch, it lies all the way flat, like the photo below. If the latch is not completely closed, it's possible that the tumbler may not engage and the key won't work properly.
  • If the latch is not closing completely, you'll need to adjust it to lie flat. We explain this in THIS VIDEO.

If these tips do not resolve the issue, please contact us at [email protected] and describe the issue you are having. Please include:

  • Photo or video that helps us understand what is going on.
  • The number that is printed on the key, so we know which lock this refers to.
If we determine the locks are defective, we will arrange for a replacement.
