Best practices for using the Sorein inverterUpdated 2 days ago

Overloading an inverter repeatedly will dramatically shorten its lifespan. Even though a Sorein Power Station inverter has a built-in shutoff, repeatedly exceeding the rated output will eventually cause component failure. This type of failure is not covered by the product warranty.

To avoid risking inverter overload, be thoughtful about how you use the inverter. Here are a few tips:

  • Don't use two high-wattage appliances at the same time. For example, an air conditioner and a microwave oven.
  • Avoid using appliances on electricity if they have the option to run on propane. For example, many water heaters and refrigerators can run on either propane or electricity. Choosing the propane setting will greatly reduce load on the inverter.
  • Avoid running the inverter for long periods of time within 90% of its rated continuous maximum output. Doing so puts causes heat and added stress on the internal components, and will lead to early failure.
  • In hot weather, protect the power station from direct sun.
  • If the inverter overloads when running an air conditioner, consider installing a "soft start" device in the air conditioner to reduce power spikes.
  • Turn off any other loads when running a air conditioner or heat pump.
  • Consider adding a Sorein Extra Inverter to spread out the load.
