Best practice for storing the water filtersUpdated 7 months ago

On a trip that has you traveling from place to place, drain the filters between uses, by turning the filter system upside down and tilting it against something. Leave it there a couple of minutes while you're packing up, and this will allow most of the water to drain out.

After a trip, or anytime you are not going to be using the filter system for a while, Blu Technology recommends the following procedure:

1. Remove the filter from the filter canister.

There's a simple tool included with every Blu Technology filter system that you can use to unscrew the filter canisters and remove the filter.

2. Allow the filter components to air dry completely in a clean and well-ventilated area.

Ensure there is no moisture left, as it can lead to mold or bacterial growth during storage. Depending on your climate, this drying phase can take up to 7 days.

3. Place the filter in its filter canister, or a sealable plastic bag.

4. Store the filter in a cool, dry, and clean location away from direct sunlight and chemicals.

Moisture and heat can damage the filter materials or promote the growth of bacteria. Avoid storing filters in direct sunlight, as UV rays can deteriorate their effectiveness. Make sure to protect it from any potential physical damage.

5. Make a note of the filter's first date of use.
