Jamming problems with AIRLoq, or failure to lock the deadbolt 

The existing deadbolt in the Airstream must operate smoothly and correctly, in order for AIRLoq to function correctly. If an AIRLoq is not able to function correctly (meaning, lock and unlock the deadbolt), it's usually a problem with the door or the deadbolt, not the AIRLoq. Typical problems are:

• The door is mis-aligned, and doesn't shut well.
• There is a bent or damaged mortise in the door. The mortise includes the deadbolt and a mechanism to make it slide into the locked and unlocked positions. See notes below for details.
• The deadbolt is out of alignment with the striker pocket.
• The deadbolt needs lubrication.
• The door has not been shut completely.

An AIRLoq cannot fix existing problems with the deadbolt. If the door shuts poorly, or the deadbolt does not operate easily, the AIRLoq may not be able to actuate the deadbolt properly. These are problems with the door or deadbolt, not the AIRLoq. The door and deadbolt should confirmed to function smoothly and correctly, before installing AIRLoq.

Bent or damaged deadbolt mortise

The deadbolt mortise is not part of AIRLoq. It is a guide for the deadbolt, and it is built into the Airstream entry door.

See below for a photo of the deadbolt mortise. If it is bent or damaged, the deadbolt will not engage correctly. This will prevent AIRLoq from working.

To avoid this problem, always test the deadbolt for smooth and correct operation before installing AIRLoq.

AIR GEAR does not sell replacement deadbolt mortises, and they are not available as a separate replacement part. So if your mortise needs replacement you have to purchase a complete Tri-Mark deadbolt from an Airstream dealer. This replacement deadbolt will include a new mortise.
