Sorein first and second generation productsUpdated an hour ago

This article is applicable to both the 1st generation and 2nd generations of Sorein Power Stations.

The Sorein Power Station is modular. It consists of these components:

  • Sorein Main Unit or Control Unit. This component has the user controls (buttons), display, inverter, and outlets. Every Sorein system must include a Main Unit (for G1 systems) or Control Unit (for G2 systems).
    • Sorein Main Units have two types of outlets connected to the inverter:
      • NEMA TT30. A NEMA TT-30 outlet is a 30-amp, 125-volt, 3-pin, grounded receptacle specifically designed for recreational vehicles (RVs), travel trailers, and other applications.
      • NEMA 5-20. A NEMA 5-20 outlet is a 20-amp, 125-volt, 3 pin, ground receptacle.
  • Sorein Extra Battery or Battery Module. The Extra Battery or Battery Module increases the total power capacity of the entire system.
    • Capacity is measured in kiloWatt hours (kWh).
    • In the G1 systems, an expansion battery is called "Extra Battery". In the G2 systems, an expansion battery is called "Battery Module".
      • These names are interchangeable. Any reference to an Extra Battery is relevant to G1 Extra Battery or G2 Battery Module. The only difference is the kWh capacity.
    • An Extra Battery is added simply by putting it below the Main Unit, in a stack. The Main Unit automatically connects to the Extra Battery or multiple batteries.
    • Extra Batteries are compatible only with Sorein Power Stations.
  • Sorein Extra Inverter.
    • An Extra Inverter can be added. It is recommended that the Extra Inverter be added only to Sorein systems containing at least two Extra Batteries.
    • The Extra Inverter is optional.
    • Extra Inverters are compatible only with Sorein Power Stations.
  • Sorein Off-Road Cart.
    • This cart is recommended for all Sorein Power Station stacks that have at least one Extra Battery.
    • The cart keeps the Sorein Power Station off the ground, and makes it easy to move.

First Generation

Through August 5, 2026, AIR GEAR sold only the first generation Sorein Power Station. The first generation is also referred to as "1st generation" or "first-generation" or "G1" or "Gen 1".

  • The G1 Main Unit includes a battery. It can function with or without an Extra Battery.
    • Because the Sorein G1 Main Unit includes a battery, it is not returnable.

Second Generation

Starting in mid-August 2026, AIR GEAR began offering the second generation Sorein Power Station. The second generation is also referred to as "2nd generation" or "second-generation" or "G2" or "Gen 2".

  • The G2 Control Unit does not have a battery.
    • At least one Extra Battery or Battery Module is required for the G2 Control Unit to function.
    • G2 Battery Modules sold by AIR GEAR are branded as "AIR GEAR x Sorein".

Compatibility

The G2 Control Unit is compatible with the G1 Extra Battery.

  • When using a G2 Control Unit with a G1 Extra Battery, the Sorein Battery Cooling Fans (SKU: AG-S2FAN) must be installed in the battery.

The G1 Main Unit is compatible with the G2 Battery Module.

The G1 Main Unit is compatible with the G2 Extra Inverter. This gives the option of upgrading an older G1 system to 3300 Watt inverter output.

The Sorein Aluminum Off-Road Cart is compatible with all systems (G1 and G2).

Upgrade options, for owners of G1 systems

Owners of G1 Sorein Power Stations have two options for upgrading their system, to match the 3300W output capability of the G2 Power Station:

  1. Owners can purchase a second generation (G2) Control Unit.
    1. This unit will work with any other Sorein components they may already own.
    2. The G1 Main Unit can still be used separately. Essentially, this gives the owner two separate power stations.
    3. When using G1 Extra Batteries with a G2 Control Unit, Sorein Battery Cooling Fans must be installed in the Extra Batteries.
    4. The G2 Control Unit is not publicly visible in the AIR GEAR store but can be ordered by contacting AIR GEAR Customer Service.
  2. Owners can purchase a second generation (G2) Extra Inverter.
    1. The G2 Extra Inverter will work with the G1 Main Unit and Extra Batteries.
    2. The G2 Extra inverter will provide the same 3300W continuous output / 6500 peak output capability of the G2 Control Unit.
    3. This is the lowest cost option for owners of G1 systems to upgrade to 3300W output capability.
    4. When using G1 Extra Batteries with a G2 Extra Inverter, Sorein Battery Cooling Fans must be installed in the Extra Batteries.
    5. Owners of Sorein G1 systems will receive a $100 discount when purchasing an Extra Inverter 3300W, if they use the same email as was used for their original Sorein purchase. This discount is automatically applied at checkout. Note that this offer is valid only through December 1, 2026.
