MiniLink makes a popping soundUpdated 15 minutes ago

If an AIR GEAR MiniLink makes a "popping" sound, this most commonly a symptom of a poor ground elsewhere in the trailer's DC wiring.

A poor and/or intermittent 12 volt ground at another point in the 12 volt DC system can cause these problems:

  • Resistance or intermittency in the voltage return path.
  • Transient voltage spikes.
  • The converter may repeatedly shut down and restart.

Any of these conditions can cause a malfunction or overstress the MiniLink, causing noise, heat, and/or failure.

In these cases, the MiniLink is usually not the cause. Look for poor grounds or loose connections elsewhere in the trailer's 12 volt wiring. An experienced electrical technician may be needed to help find the source.
