How do I dispose of a power station battery?Updated 3 hours ago
The Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) batteries used in Sorein Power Stations are rated to hold 80% of their charge for 3,500 charging cycles. This will be many years in typical use.
At the end of their useful life, LFP batteries should NOT be put in the regular trash. This is dangerous, potentially bad for the environment, and wasteful. Instead, they can be recycled. The minerals inside will be used to make new batteries.
Before disposing of your battery
If possible, drain the battery to less than 10% charge.
Put the battery in "Warehouse Mode". See the Sorein User Manual or our Help Center article for instructions on how to do this.
Options for Recycling LFP Batteries
1. Contact your local Household Hazardous Waste program, Municipal Waste, or Environmental Services Division to see if they will accept the batteries at a recycling event or collection station. Most municipalities have programs to collect and recycle lithium batteries.
2. Check with your local Lowe's or Home Depot store to see if they will accept the batteries. Many have lithium battery collection programs in place, in cooperation with Call2Recycle.
3. Drop off at a Redwood Materials collection location or community event. Click here to find locations near you.
