Charging Sorein from a gas generatorUpdated 18 days ago

Can you charge a Sorein Power Station from a gas generator?

Yes, assuming the generator meets these requirements:

  1. The generator must be capable producing 120-volt AC "pure sine wave" power. Inverters that produce "modified sine wave" will not be able to charge the Sorein Power Station.
  2. To charge at the highest possible rate, the generator must be able to output at least 1800 watts continuously. If it cannot, the generator may overload and shut off. (Note: The Sorein Power Station can be set in "Silent Charging Mode" which limits the charge rate to 750 watts. This may help when charging it from a smaller generator.)

However, we do not recommend charging from a generator while using the Sorein Power Station for a heavy load, such as an air conditioner, microwave oven, water heater, space heater, etc. This is because the inverter output of the Sorein Main Unit is reduced when the Main Unit is plugged into an AC power outlet. When the Sorein Main Unit is plugged into a wall outlet or a generator outlet, you should not attempt to power any devices totaling over 1,000 watts.

This limitation can be removed if you use a Sorein Extra Inverter. The Extra Inverter will have its full rated output capacity while the Main Unit is being used to charge the Sorein batteries.

Because there are many different gas generators on the market, AIR GEAR does not guarantee that any particular gas generator can be used to charge the Sorein Power Station.
